4,000 Seats Left for First Arizona Home Game

(Newser) – As of last night, 4000 tickets remained to the Arizona Diamondbacks first home game tonight against the Rockies; 2800 remained for tomorrow's game two, the Arizona Republic reports. "I expect Friday to be sold out," Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall said. "Tonight will be close." Either way would be a big improvement over last year, he said, adding: "It was crickets out there."

Hall's spin referred to the D'backs missing the playoffs entirely. Just a few hours earlier, a national sportscaster commented that Arizona fans had a "dry apathy" towards the NL championship. But the team isn't worried about turnout.  "When we won the first two games," starter Doug Davis said, "[Owner Jeff] Moorad came in and said, 'We won our fans back. We got them back.' And I said, 'You're damn right we did.'"
