First Campbell Brown, then Larry King, and now Anderson Cooper? CNN is perilously close to losing its star anchor, who is entertaining offers from a number of suitors, sources tell the Wrap. Cooper's contract is up next year, and word is that there wouldn't be much love lost if he departed. He's constantly at odds with his executive producer, one staffer says.
An unnamed “on-air personality” adds that CNN's other anchors resent the amount of resources spent on Cooper's show, which recently traveled to both Haiti and the Gulf. Cooper, for his part, is said to be frustrated by his low ratings—which are actually pretty high by CNN's standards. Asked for comment on Cooper's status, a CNN spokesman replied, “CNN will continue to do great journalism and will leave meaningless conjecture to The Wrap.”
