Rapper T.I. has a good excuse for missing BET’s Hip Hop Awards: He was in jail. Federal agents busted the rapper yesterday after they found an illegal "arsenal" of machine guns in his home, said law enforcement authorities. As a convicted felon, it’s illegal for the self-proclaimed “King of the South” to own any gun.

T.I. was reportedly betrayed by his bodyguard, who agreed to cooperate with authorities after attempting to buy machine guns from an undercover federal agent, CNN reports. The bodyguard arranged for police to meet T.I. in a shopping center parking lot, where they arrested him without incident, officials said. T.I. had been nominated for more awards than any other performer at the BET show. (More rap music stories.)
