George's Sons Take Over Yanks

Posted Oct 14, 07 9:59 AM CDT in Business Sports

(Newser) – George Steinbrenner’s sons, Hank and Hal, are now calling the shots for the Yankees, the New York Post reported today. King George, 77, will still be in the picture and only "an office door away," but the brothers will have final say on all day-to-day baseball decisions. “There's always been a succession—and that's myself and my brother,” said Hank.

Hank, 50, and Hal, 38, have long been involved in the family's $2 billion empire, and both have reputations as smart businessmen. Hank has inherited his dad's famous temper, while Hal is shy and soft-spoken. The team’s board will meet later this week to decide on new titles for the brothers, along with baseball matters like the fate of Joe Torre.
