Ernie Els scored a record seventh victory at the World Match Play Championship today in Wentworth, England, pocketing £1 million and jumping from third to first on the European Order of Merit, AFP reports. “It’s absolutely a dream come true,” Els says. “In my wildest dreams, I would not have dreamt I could win it seven times.”

Angel Cabrera couldn’t catch the South African, who overcame back pain and won with a 6 and 4. He admitted to hitting weak drives today, but his putter "stayed hot," dropping a 20-footer at the ninth and a 35-footer on the fourteenth. “A certain Mr. Woods was not here, thank goodness,” Els said, “but I’ve had a great week.”
