USCG ALASKA - On 7/11/10, Station Ketchikan (http://bit.ly/bEU0hj) received a may-day that the 47' Selene Yacht had anchored in Annette Bay the previous night at high tide but when the couple awoke in the morning during low tide, the boat was hard aground and leaking diesel fuel at an estimated 10 gallons per minute. After the USCG closed all relevant valves and some quick damage control work, the leak was slowed to roughly 5 gallons per minute. Unfortunately, the damage was just too great for any hopes of saving the yacht at that time. With a flooding tide, the owner of the yacht opted not to watch anymore as his vessel was slowly disappearing to the incoming tide.
