More criticism is quick to follow

(Newser) – Bill O’Reilly actually apologized to Shirley Sherrod last night…and then promptly concluded she still shouldn’t get her job back. Though O’Reilly acknowledged that when he called for Sherrod’s resignation he hadn’t done his “homework,” he went on to make a case for why she’s still “ineligible to serve in the government.” His reasoning: She’s a “long-time liberal activist” who sued the Department of Agriculture and won $300,000, and her controversial speech shows “blatant partisanship.”

Though his apology was backhanded, O’Reilly joins a long list of people—including Glenn Beck—apologizing to Sherrod. “Noticeably absent from the list of people? Andrew Breitbart, the man who first published the video that got Sherrod fired,” notes Frances Martel on Mediaite. “And there are no signs on Big Government that Breitbart is going to address the fact that he started this mess.”
