- Cher: “The diva has gone away and come back more times than a persistent case of pinkeye” and is currently doing an extended run in Vegas.

- Frank Sinatra: “In 1971, as those damn hippie pinkos were taking over the music industry, Hoboken's favorite son announced he was leaving the biz.” He was back 2 years later.
- Lance Armstrong: After winning the Tour de France seven consecutive times, he called the 2005 his “farewell” Tour. He was back in 2009 and again this year, although he didn’t do so well this time around.
