Flipboard iPad App Wins Rave Reviews

It creates a personalized 'magazine' from Facebook, Twitter, news sources

(Newser) Flipboard may be the first true killer app for the iPad, a "social magazine" that weaves information from your Facebook and Twitter feeds together with personalized, aggregated news content into an attractive, intuitive presentation. The app's smooth, magazine-like appearance has drawn almost universal acclaim—check these reviews from PC World and CNET. In fact, Flipboard's biggest drawback so far may be that demand since its launch last week has periodically paralyzed its servers.

A key feature of Flipboard is its ability to extract links embedded in Twitter by services like bit.ly and present that content upfront as part of your personal "magazine." The company intends to wed that kind of social media content with conventional publishing, CEO Mike McCue tells Business Insider, while serving ads alongside both. The resulting revenue will be split with publishers in an arrangement McCue says will allow publishers to "monetize their content by a factor of ten from what they’re currently doing with banner ads."

Oh, good, a story about Flipbook. Curious about it. I've tried it, and I think it's an promising use of app technology, but I wonder what the article says, and more, what illuminating takes my fellow readers might have. Here let's scroll down and see... "I don't own an iPad so iDon'tGiveAShit." "you don't have time to think things through before you post." "I don't want to share my personal life with the world" "coca cola corp will know how you like your eggs prepared in the morning" "Big Pharma would know all your psych meds." "Goldline will know just how much gold you are willing to buy... this month." "No way would I touch it at current price, unless I have Obam...err..Monopoly money." Riiiiiight. It's all about Obama, pharma, Beck, Facebook, Apple, gold, healthcare, and lobbing nastiness at each other over the partisan walls you've feverishly built.... Does anyone even mention Flipbook? Nope. (Okay, one oblique reference.) Ah, the joy of Newser comments.
