George Lucas begins work on live-action TV ‘Star Wars,’ sans Skywalker and Vader

(Newser) – C-3PO, R2-D2…and TiVo? Star Wars mastermind George Lucas has “just begun work” on a live-action series TV series set in his storied universe. But don’t expect Luke to turn to the dark side in the pilot episode: Lucas is “taking chances” by not featuring anyone named Skywalker or Solo or Vader, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Instead the show will feature “minor characters” and “the life of robots,” said the tight-lipped filmmaker. Lucas is also working on a computer-animated series; that program will be shopped as a finished product, an unorthodox model the live-action show may follow. Can’t wait for the next chapter from Mos Eisley? Maybe you can pen it: The show is interviewing writers now.
