Annapolis, MD - The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) reported that the preliminary cause of death in the jet ski accident of Warren Douglas Smith, 63 of Annapolis, was electrocution from a lightning strike during the severe thunderstorm of Sunday, July 25. The boating accident occurred one-half mile south of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. NRP investigators believe Smith was not actually hit by lightning but was electrocuted by it hitting close aboard.
