Bullock Tries to Get Out of Gulf Ad ...

... after learning that it's sponsored by the oil industry

(Newser) – Sandra Bullock is fighting to get herself taken out of a prominent public service announcement for the Gulf after learning that the ad's sponsor has ties to the oil industry. The "Be the One" ad (see it in the video gallery) is sponsored in part by America's Wetland Foundation, which Think Progress calls a "greenwashing" group for big oil funded by the likes of BP, Shell, and the American Petroleum Institute.

Bullock's publicist said she did the spot on the advice of her attorney. "At no time was she made aware that any organization, oil company or otherwise had influence" over the message. "We have immediately asked for her participation in the PSA be removed until the facts can be determined."

The TV spot sounds like a perfectly valid plea for assurances that the Gulf will be cleaned up. Who the hell cares WHO paid for it? Or who funds the organization that created it. The content of the video was good for all of us.

Another lefty hypocrite, I am sure she doesn’t use or benefit from oil products in anyway.

oh no the big bad oil industry lol. Does she not realize that without them she wouldn't be driving her BMW back and forth to her million dollar mansion powered by some kind of fuel. We need to take the good with the bad, or go back to the stone age!
