Meghan McCain thinks it was politically astute of President Obama to appear on The View today, but the compliments pretty much end there. "Once again it was all smoke and mirrors, not surprising for a president known for his poetic use of language," she writes at the Daily Beast. She called his appearance "pretty predictable," his answers "very rehearsed," and the man himself not "particularly genuine."

"I mean, how many times can he talk about how he has Jay-Z on his iPod? This was something emphasized at great length during the election to prove how hip he was." She admits he can be "charming and knows what to say to sound appealing," but she found herself "zoning out" during the show at the same old shtick. Really, she asks, doesn't he have more important things to do? "I don’t care what the president currently has downloaded on his iPod." (More President Obama stories.)
