Dems Pounce on Schlafly's 'Unmarried Women' Comment

After conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly claimed that "unmarried women" are all on welfare at a recent fundraiser, Dems are training their sights on the 75 GOP candidates endorsed by the Schlaafly-led Eagle Forum, plan to paint those she has endorsed as extremists and pressure them to reject the endorsement. "Unmarried women, 70% of unmarried women, voted for Obama, and this is because when you kick your husband out, you've got to have big brother government to be your provider," Schlafly said at the Michigan fundraiser.

When TPM asked Schlafly about the comments yesterday she stood by them, adding that Obama is trying to boost welfare rolls to help his reelection and "all welfare goes to unmarried moms." Candidates endorsed by Schlafly include Michele Bachmann, David Vitter, and Jim DeMint.
