Disturbing New Career Choice: Sex Tape Star

With Montana Fishburne releasing her own sex tape, a long-held suspicion is confirmed: “Some of those shocking sex tapes those D-list celebrities didn't want you to see are in fact carefully contrived publicity stunts,” writes Mary Elizabeth Williams on Salon. “In what surely has to be the press release most likely to make you start drinking before lunch,” Fishburne says she’s “impatient about getting well-known” and releasing her very own porno “seemed like a great way to get started.”

“Not sure this is how Judi Dench got started, but it's a living,” Williams continues. At least Montana—or, as she’s known in the porn industry, Chippy D—“is upfront about her ambitions and her strategies,” but that doesn’t make her career path any less disturbing. As Fishburne herself said in an interview this weekend, the sex tape “wasn't a goal, but it's a step…in a direction.” Exactly what direction remains to be seen.
