The Yankees brass continued their meetings today in Tampa but still have not made a decision on the fate of manager Joe Torre. GM Brian Cashman said that the club is taking their time with the decision on whether to bring Torre back out of respect for the man who brought New York four world championships, according to Newsday.

Cashman is returning to New York but the meetings will continue over the phone. The Yankees GM also reaffirmed the club’s stance on Alex Rodriguez. “If Alex Rodriguez opts out of his contract, we will not participate in his free agency,” he said. The slugger has 3 seasons left on his $252 million, 10 year contract but could choose to cancel the deal and test the open market. (More New York Yankees stories.)
