New York City’s taxis may be the second-best in the world, but their drivers are tied with Paris being as the rudest in the world, according to a new survey from Hotels.com. New York also took the prize for most available taxis in the annual poll. London, meanwhile, had the best cabs overall by a wide margin, thanks to the city’s friendly and knowledgeable drivers—London cabbies have to pass a rigorous test called “The Knowledge” to get their taxi license, Reuters points out.

Tokyo, Berlin, and Bangkok grabbed the remaining three spots in the top five. By contrast, travelers advised avoiding cabs in Sydney, which scored badly on value, availability, and knowledge of the area, and Rome, which apparently has the worst cab drivers in the world. (More taxi stories.)
