Thumbs Up for Swype Keyboard
Or should that be index fingers up?

(Newser) – Do you hate your phone’s virtual keyboard? Then you might want to try Swype, a new virtual keyboard that’s rapidly gaining buzz. Swype allows you to type by drawing lines from letter to letter, never lifting your finger from the screen. Skeptical? Don’t be, writes Katherine Boehret of the Wall Street Journal. “Though using Swype requires an adjustment period,” she writes, “It feels more fun and game-like than tapping out individual letters.”

Quick, easy gestures allow you to capitalize words, and the phone is remarkably accurate at guessing what you’re trying to type—Boehret even threw obscure words like “49er” at it, and text message constructions like “l8ter.” In the end, typing “can be more accurate, feels faster—and more entertaining—the more you use it.” Swype currently comes preloaded on about 10 phones, and is available for any Android phone. But sorry, iPhone fans, Apple has so far given the app the cold shoulder.
