(User Submitted) – Generally if you're a cop, hitting an unresisting prisoner's leg with your baton—even pausing to get a bigger baton—27 times until it breaks isn't the best career move, to say the least. Especially if you do it on videotape. South Carolina deputy Oddie Tribble has been relieved of duty after last week's "disturbing" beating was caught on tape and Charles Shelley required stitches and treatment for a broken leg, reports the AP. An investigation is ongoing into whether Shelley's civil rights were violated, and whether other deputies on the scene should be punished for not intervening. Watch the video at left.

PAYDAY for the inmate! Why did they blur out the officer's face?

I think this is horrible you can see a lady as well as another officer in the video and noone is doing nothing. . The other officer should be fired as well, he pushed the guy back over there, so he is just as much as fault. I am glad this video got out and you can see just how wrong and cruel some officers are. The man is not even resisting. This is wrong I hope he sues and I hope his leg gets better.

Wow! police officers are supposed to uphold the law and exemplify a higher standard of behaviour and this is what we call a police officer....really?? It is obvious that this officer has anger managment issues and should be permanently relieved of duty and face criminal charges. Those that stood around and watched as an innocent until proven guilty defensless man was beaten should also be fired! When we allow our emotions to get the better of us and loose control we are no better that the criminals we are trying to protect society from!
