Fans to Reach Nirvana at the Movies

Posted Oct 19, 07 3:11 AM CDT in Arts & Living US

(Newser) – The story of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain will soon come to life on the big screen, Variety reports. Universal Pictures has commissioned a screenplay about the troubled life of the grunge rocker, which will be based on the Cobain biography “Heavier than Heaven.” Courtney Love, the rocker’s widow and an actress/musician in her own right, will produce the drama.

Cobain rose to fame in the late 1980s after forming Nirvana with Dave Grohl, who now leads the Foo Fighters. The group became the voice of the grunge rock generation with hits such as “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Struggling with drug addiction and the pressures of fame, Cobain committed suicide in 1994, leaving behind Love and daughter Frances Bean.
