In Chinatown, Something Smells Fishy

LA Times investigates Clinton campaign contributions

(Newser) – Hillary Clinton’s campaign coffers are benefiting from unlikely and possibly illegal sources, an LA Times investigation reveals. Checks for four-figure amounts are coming from dishwashers, immigrants unable to vote, and other unlikely donors in New York’s Chinatown, some of whom report feeling coerced by neighborhood associations. Other donors were impossible to track down, even with their neighbors’ help.

Clinton's support for immigrants and immigratino reform means many of the donations are legit—"If she gets to be the president, we want our children to come home," says a restaurateur whose kids are in China. Opponents accuse her of "exploiting the vulnerabilities of recent immigrants” but the campaign cites legislation Clinton proposed to unite families.
