(NEWSER) - Minka Kelly this week told David Letterman that she came thisclose to getting plastic surgery: She worked as a scrub nurse at a doctor's office in exchange for a planned boob job, which a former Playboy Playmate told her she needed. She ultimately changed her mind, reports the Huffington Post —but a lot of stars didn't. The Frisky relates 13 tales of celebs who went under the knife, only to publicly regret it later:

• Heather Morris: The Glee star got a boob job when she was younger, but had the implants removed because, she said, “it was hard being active with them, because my chest was always sore.”
• Tori Spelling: She also regrets her boob job, but for a different reason: Now that she’s a mom, she said, “if I had known that it would or could possibly impact production of milk, I wouldn’t have had them.”
• Lisa Rinna: She was famous for her pumped-up lips—and she didn’t like it. “My lips started to define who I am,” she said. “That bothered me,” so she got them deflated.

Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson, Rachel Weisz not going under the knife

(NEWSER) - Get ready for wrinkles. That's the word from 35-year-old actress Kate Winslet, who, along with pals Emma Thompson and Rachel Weisz, is taking a vow against plastic surgery and Botox. They've even launched the British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League. "It goes against my morals, the way my parents brought me up, and what I consider to be natural beauty," Winslet tells the Telegraph . As for Botox, she explains: "I'm an actress. I don't want to freeze the expression of my face." Once reality royalty, now they're forced to eat 'tacos and burritos'

(NEWSER) - The famewhoring and ridiculous antics of Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag finally backfired, leaving them broke and forced to live rent-free at Spencer's parents' house. (Although, it is a Santa Barbara beach house, so don't feel too sorry for them.) They explain to the Daily Beast how it all went wrong:

• They thought that living a fake life in front of the cameras (for example: Through it all, they never actually broke up ) would pay off for them in the long run, but it turns out "you can be too famous," Spencer says. "Reality TV is not a career." His antics for the camera made him so widely detested he can't find a job, and is considering going back to school. Heidi has been appearing on a reality competition show.
• Spencer says they never truly had any money, because they spent it as quickly as they got it. A whopping $2 million went toward hiring writers, producers, and engineers for Heidi's failed music endeavor .
• "I probably spent a million dollars on suits and fancy clothes,” Spencer says. “My whole million-dollar wardrobe—I would never wear that again. They’re props. Everything we were doing, we were buying props."

Venezuelan president calls their popularity 'monstrous'

(NEWSER) - Between 30,000 and 40,000 women get breast augmentations each year in Venezuela—and President Hugo Chavez is not happy about it. On state TV this weekend, he called it “monstrous” that even poor women feel pressure to get breast lifts, and that some doctors “convince some women that if they don’t have some big bosoms, they should feel bad.” Venezuela is one of the world’s biggest markets for the surgery—billboards advertise bank loans for boob jobs; parents have been known to give their 15-year-olds breast implants as a gift; and last year, a National Assembly candidate attempted to finance his campaign by raffling off a breast lift. "The ultimate beauty secret for a woman getting older is, Don't be too thin!" she tells Self . "When you are just muscle, you end up being gaunt in the face, and that makes you look older by five or 10 years."
