Standup comic Robert Schimmel died yesterday at age 60 after battling injuries sustained in a car accident in Arizona. Schimmel is probably best known for his raunchy HBO specials and guest appearances on Howard Stern's show, notes E! Online. He was also a favorite of Conan's. Schimmel was in a car driven by his teenage daughter when she swerved to avoid another vehicle on Aug. 26. She's expected to fully recover.

Schimmel survived non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and wrote a 2008 memoir about it called Cancer on $5 a Day. He was currently awaiting a liver transplant after a bad blood transfusion gave him cirrhosis. Tweeted Jimmy Kimmel: "Robert Schimmel was one of the funniest and nicest guys in comedy." See the video gallery for samples.
