(NEWSER) - Saying that he felt a "wall of mistrust" in talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, the South Korean president, Roh Moo-hyu, has rejected Kim's invitation to extend the two leaders' summit, Reuters reports. News of the impasse comes as the US and North Korea, in separate talks, near an agreement on disabling North Korea's nuclear program. More»

(NEWSER) - Thirty North Korean officials who helped engage South Korea in talks were either executed or died in "staged traffic accidents" for failing to improve relations, according to Amnesty International. The human rights group's annual report found that another 200 were arrested in January as the regime transferred power from Kim Jong-il to his son, Kim Jong-un. Pyongyang typically rounds up officials who fail to satisfy the regime, even when they're only carrying out orders, the Telegraph reports. More»
