(NEWSER) - The hunt for still-missing Terminator 3 star Nick Stahl has turned to Skid Row in Los Angeles, police report. The 32-year-old actor has disappeared on drug benders before, and ended up in some of the city's most dangerous neighborhoods, his wife tells the Daily Beast . “She admitted that he had gone to Skid Row" in the past, said a police spokesman. "He goes off for days at a time. We are getting the information out to our patrol officers where Nick might frequent. We are trying to locate him.” Stahl has been missing for five days, and law enforcement officers fear the worst. “The longer you stay" on Skid Row, you really become part of the street,” said a detective. “If you stay more than two or three days, you get swallowed up." Police advise women to walk in pairs

(NEWSER) - Los Angeles police had to issue an awful warning to women in the city today: Don't walk alone. A sexual predator known as the "teardrop rapist" appears to have surfaced again after a years-long absence, reports the Los Angeles Times . The assailant, thought to have at least one teardrop tattoo beneath one of his eyes, is blamed for 28 assaults since 1996, the latest coming in November. More»

Rancho San Pedro gang dealt 'crippling blow'

(NEWSER) - "Slick," Scrappy," "Boner," "Toker," "Fat Boy," and scores of other gangsters have been taken off the streets of the Los Angeles Harbor area after a series of massive raids. More than 1,300 federal and local police officers arrested 81 gangsters after "Operation Pirate Town" targeted the Rancho San Pedro gang, the Contra Costa Times reports. (NEWSER) - Los Angeles authorities have vowed to dramatically increase security at Dodger Stadium following the near-fatal beating of a Giants fan. At "an absolute minimum," the police force will double the number of uniformed officers patrolling the stadium and boost the number of plainclothes cops in the area, announced LAPD chief Charlie Beck. (NEWSER) - A Los Angeles school police officer who sparked a huge manhunt last week after saying he had been shot by a suspect has admitted it was a hoax, police sources say. Officer Jeff Stenroos has been arrested and charged with filing a false police report. Stenroos—whose bulletproof vest showed signs of damage—came up with the story after shooting himself while mishandling a firearm, sources tell the Los Angeles Times. More»
