Crossroads Generation hopes to turn frustration into GOP gain

(NEWSER) - A new super PAC is targeting younger voters—but it's Republican, not Democratic. Crossroads Generation aims to tap into the frustration of young Americans fed up with poor job prospects, overwhelming student loans, and a weak economy. The new PAC is today launching a $50,000 social media campaign focusing on young voters in eight swing states. People 18 to 34 are 'connected,' says Nielsen

(NEWSER) - Nielsen wants "Generation C" to be the descriptor of choice for 18- to 34-year-olds, notes Mashable . Why is it better than "Generation Y" or "Millennials"? Because the "c" stands for connected, and Nielsen provides new stats today to bolster its case:

• Gen C'ers make up only 23% of the population, but they more than make up for that when it comes to watching online video (27%), visiting social networks or blog sites (27%), owning tablets (33%), and using a smartphone (39%).

Young workers are demanding flexibility

In its annual list of top trends, communications firm Euro RSCG Worldwide is predicting that “Generation Y will upend the traditional workday, as the digital generation works anywhere, anytime.” Time agrees, predicting that telecommuting and flexible schedules with strange hours could soon be the norm. (NEWSER) - If you’re not a Fox News fan, you may have missed the "uproar” President Obama’s Thanksgiving address caused—numerous Fox hosts were outraged that the president didn’t mention God. Well, Jon Stewart is outraged over the outrage. “If I recall my grade school pageants correctly, Thanksgiving was a bunch of pagans teaching religious zealots how to farm,” Stewart deadpanned, failing to see what the big deal was. “If instead of pardoning two male turkeys he had married them, OK, then I could understand.” More»
