(NEWSER) - Uggs have never been more sartorially controversial than they are right now: The Australian shoemaker has unveiled a new line of wedding Uggs , causing many a blogger and Twitter user to express their horror at the very idea. But not everyone is saying "I don't." Some reactions:

Both expected to survive

(NEWSER) - Two teenage girls who fell asleep while sunbathing on a quiet rural road in Pennsylvania were struck by a car yesterday. The 13-year-old pals were airlifted to a nearby hospital, and are expected to survive. They were hit by a car driven by a cousin of one of the girls. He had just stopped at a stop sign, and struck the girls as he turned the corner. He was questioned by police and released, reports WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh. More»

Authorities investigating after bruised girl, 14, files complaint

(NEWSER) - County prosecutors are investigating mock "abductions" orchestrated by a Pennsylvania church that left one 14-year-old girl bruised, battered, and terrified, according to authorities. The horrifying ordeal was intended to teach the unsuspecting teens at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Middletown about persecution of Christian missionaries, reports the Daily Mail . Some 17 teenagers were snatched from the church, hooded, interrogated, then taken in a van to a pastor's house, where he was apparently being attacked, and was covered with what looked like blood. During the staged kidnapping, men "'pulled my chair out from underneath me, and then they told me to get on the ground," said the terrified girl, who filed a complaint with police. Florida middle school becoming an infested, urine-dripping mess: parents

(NEWSER) - Are raccoons the new bullies? In one Florida middle school, yes. CBS12 reports on an infestation so bad that parents started calling the station for help, telling it that the wild creatures had been in residence for weeks, and that the school hadn't sent home warnings. Even worse: One raccoon reportedly peed on a student. "Something wet started dripping down on his backpack, then eventually on him," confirmed a student at Woodlands Middle School in Lake Worth. Guess it didn't belong to a friend

(NEWSER) - A Pennsylvania man has become a case study in what not to say to cops. Devonte Davon Jeter was arrested for marijuana possession in May, and in a preliminary hearing yesterday, his lawyer made the case that the pot could have belonged to someone else in his car, the Beaver County Times reports. But it seems Jeter had already put a hole in that story: When the 19-year-old left custody in May, he "asked if he could have his weed back," an officer testified. "I don't know what else ‘Can I have my weed back' can mean, other than it's his," said a prosecutor. The judge, not so surprisingly, determined that there was enough evidence to hold the Jeter for trial. More»
