(NEWSER) - Disgraced former News International CEO Rebekah Brooks has been arrested, reports Sky News, the latest casualty in the burgeoning phone hacking scandal that brought down News of the World. Brooks, 43, went by appointment to a London police station, where she is being held on charges of corruption and conspiring to intercept communications. The former NotW editor confirms that she's "assisting the police with their inquiries," reports the AP. She's the 10th person charged. The British Prime Minister frequently chatted with former News International boss Rebekah Brooks via text, Brooks testified today at an inquiry into News Corp's phone hacking scandal, and he'd sign his texts "lol"—you know, for "lots of love." Brooks' husband also arrested in News International scandal

(NEWSER) - A big arrest in the News International phone hacking scandal: Rebekah Brooks, the former chief executive of Rupert Murdoch's organization, was arrested early this morning. Five men were also detained as part of Operation Weeting, including Brooks' husband Charlie, the BBC reports, and searches are being conducted at related addresses. The six are suspected of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, police say. Forty-four people have now been arrested in connection with Operation Weeting and two other linked investigations.
