(NEWSER) - A pilot is in critical condition following a fiery plane crash in Utah, and investigators are trying to figure out what happened. The Cessna 210 single-engine plane went down in a residential neighborhood last night, ripping into pieces as it fell. (NEWSER) - A small plane crashed into a home in Fort Lauderdale this morning, apparently killing the pilot, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. Only the pilot was aboard, and the house was empty at the time. (NEWSER) - When the Cessna he was traveling in with four friends went down in a Kansas field Friday, 27-year-old former Marine Austin Anderson managed to pull friend Hannah Luce, 22, from the burning wreckage. The other three passengers, including the pilot, died at the scene, while Anderson and Luce were somehow able to get to a road for help—but the heroic Anderson later died at a hospital with burns over 90% of his body, leaving Luce the only survivor. Small Plane Sinks into Gulf; No Sign of Pilot

(AP) - Coast Guard crews saw no signs today that the pilot of a small plane survived when it went down in the Gulf of Mexico about three hours after two F-15 fighter jets tried to make contact with him. The plane landed right-side up on the ocean surface and had been floating right after the crash, said the Coast Guard chief. Planes reportedly did not see a life raft deploy or anything to indicate the pilot—the lone person aboard—was alive. The military pilots reported that the plane's windshield had been iced over. Plane Lands on Engine in Turkey

No one injured in Sky Airlines mishap

(NEWSER) - A plane en route from Germany landed on its engine at a Turkish airport following the collapse of its landing gear, a Turkish official says. None of the 156 people on board were injured. The landing gear of the Sky Airlines flight broke during the landing at Antalya Airport, causing the Boeing plane to skid on its right engine. Other flights weren't affected, the official tells the AP ; no reason has yet been given for the accident. More»
