(NEWSER) - It was hard to tell what was more important in Wisconsin's 72-55 win over Kansas State, today: the points Trevon Hughes scored, or the ones Michael Beasley didn't. Hughes scored 25, as the third-seeded Badgers sent the Wildcats home with a second-round win in the NCAA Tournament. Freshman Beasley scored 23 for Kansas State, but only six in the second half. (NEWSER) - Western Kentucky finally brought madness to the NCAA Tournament today. The Hilltopper's Ty Rogers hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime to give his squad a 101-99 win over 14th-ranked Drake, the 5th seed in the West Region, reports the Associated Press. The Bulldogs had scrambled back from 16 down in the final eight minutes of regulation to tie, and Jonathan Cox hit two free throws with 5.7 seconds left in OT for short-lived lead. More»

Volunteers pull away late from determined Eagles

(NEWSER) - American University didn't back down from No. 2 seed Tennessee today, but in the end talent overcame courage and the Volunteers pulled out a 72-57 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, reports the Washington Post.
