(NEWSER) - Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has won a hard-fought primary campaign to become the Democrat who will seek to unseat Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in a recall election June 5. Barrett—who was defeated by Walker in November 2010—beat nearest rival Kathleen Falk 58% to 32%, despite the millions of dollars labor groups spent in a bid to defeat him, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel . 2,600-year-old art piece was being moved for a shot

(NEWSER) - A treasured Nigerian sculpture survived for 2,600 years—until photographers dropped it during a shoot last year, irreparably shattering it, according to a lawsuit. Plaintiff Corice Amran says photographers visited her in May to photograph her piece of Nok artwork for Art + Auction; they decided to move the sculpture across the room. "During the photographers' move of the Nok figure," it "fell onto the floor and was smashed into a myriad of pieces, cannot be restored and is a total loss," the complaint says. Couple set up phone number for modern church sculpture

(NEWSER) - A Dutch town has a guardian angel—and her cell phone gets 30 calls a day. The Little Angel, a sculpture outside the ancient St. John the Evangelist Cathedral in 'S Hertogenbosch, was born out of a 1997 design contest to replace the church's worn-down figures. In addition to the phone, she has a laptop bag and wears jeans. After she was unveiled last year, an anonymous couple set up a phone number for her, advertised on business cards throughout the town, the New York Times reports. More»
