As part of the arrangement, university officials have agreed not to punish the students involved and to drop charges against several other protesters arrested over the last year. Demonstrators blast billionaire conservatives' 'corporate greed'

(NEWSER) - Nearly a thousand protesters rallied against two major conservative backers at a California resort yesterday, slamming “corporate greed” as they chanted and waved signs. The Rancho Las Palmas resort was the site of a meeting of top conservatives held by the Koch brothers, who run the country’s second-biggest private company and fund libertarian and Tea Party initiatives. (NEWSER) - Angry students took to the streets yesterday to blast a proposed 32% fee hike for University of California schools. The Board of Regents is expected to finalize the increase today during a meeting at UCLA. It will hike tuition bills some $2,500. UC students will soon be paying $10,500 a year in tuition, triple a decade ago, on top of an estimated $16,000 in living and book costs. More»

(NEWSER) - A California man who promised to fly the American flag until his son comes home from Iraq is getting a little heat—along with sympathy—for the tattered condition of Old Glory, reports Fox News. Louis Haros’ son, Paul, will be home this week after a tour—his second—that started in September. “I made a promise to him that it won't come down until he's home,” Haros says. “I feel if I bring it down and something happens to him. ...
