Wreckage of 46-passenger plane found

(NEWSER) - A French search team has pulled another 75 victims of the Air France Flight 447 crash out of the briny depths in recent days, a spokesman for the French military police said today. He would not say what condition the bodies were in, but Reuters notes that the first two bodies recovered from the crash—who were found still strapped to their airline seats at a depth of 12,800 feet—were well-preserved thanks to the icy temperatures at that depth. (NEWSER) - Melting glaciers all along the Andes are giving up their secrets, revealing plane crashes and climbing accidents in a boon to historians and explorers, reports the New York Times . Up to 18 people were killed

(AP) - A plane carrying 51 people from a Caribbean island crashed today in eastern Venezuela, and officials said 33 survived, while the rest were killed or missing. At least 14 people were killed and four were missing in the crash about six miles from the eastern city of Puerto Ordaz, officials said. More»

(AP) - A glimmer of positive news from today's plane crash in India: Eight people somehow survived. The other 158 aboard were killed when the Air India Express jet overshot the runway at a tricky hilltop airport in Mangalore, crashed over a cliff, and burst into flames. An Associated Press photo showed two rescuers running up a hill carrying a young girl covered in foam to waiting medics. The child's fate was not immediately known. More»
