Actor's 11 nominations more than double previous 1-year record

(NEWSER) - Adam Sandler dominated like no other would-be thespian that bane of awards season, the Razzie Awards nominations, pulling in 11 nods as an actor, writer, and producer, reports the LA Times . Among the lowlights this year:

• Sandler's 11 nominations are more than twice as many as anyone else ever scored in a single year (Eddie Murphy, who got five for Norbit)."It's almost karmic for someone to have made that much razz-able stuff in one year,'' said Razzies' founder John Wilson. "He has angered someone really powerful, I would say.''
• Sandler's Jack and Jill led the way for films with 12 Razzie nods. But he also picked up nominations for Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star and Just Go With It.

'Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives' captures Palme d'Or

(NEWSER) - In a major upset, the Thai film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives has won the top honor at Cannes, according to the Hollywood Reporter . "I'd like to send a message home," director Apichatpong Weerasethakul said in accepting the Palme d'Or. "This prize is for you." Actor will consider Lohan for role, but only if she lives with him

(NEWSER) - Warren Beatty wants to cast Lindsay Lohan in his upcoming film, but he’s not willing to gamble on the troubled starlet's reliability. The film icon will require the 22-year-old to live with him—or at least on his property—during production, Fox News reports. • Best Actor: Robert Downey Jr. returned $52.60 to Paramount for every dollar it spent to put him in Iron Man. The sky-high profit was enabled by Downey's then-low asking price, an aftereffect of his years of trouble with drugs and the law.

Spy overheard celebs gabbing with director Gus Van Sant

(NEWSER) - Lindsay Lohan and Sean Penn may make a movie together, the New York Post reports. LiLo, out with girlfriend Samantha Ronson, was overheard talking shop with the actor and director Gus Van Sant. They discussed “possibly doing a film together,” an eavesdropper told Page Six. “Lindsay seemed like she was really into the idea.” Penn and Van Sant collaborated on Milk, a new feature film about gay-rights activist Harvey Milk.
