A 70-year-old man died from his injuries this morning, police say; none of the victims' names have yet been released. Several other passengers, most in critical condition, remain hospitalized with injuries, the AP reports. Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board is examining an engine control module to determine if the bus was speeding. Survivors recount horrific accident

(NEWSER) - Survivors and witnesses of yesterday's horrific Bronx tour bus crash are dismissing the driver's story that he was cut off by a tractor-trailer, reports the AP. Passengers have told investigators that he inexplicably swerved to the right various times just before the accident and that no one felt the bus get hit; other motorists have also said they did not see it get hit. The bus hit a road sign that sliced its roof off at what the New York Post calls "face level." Worth noting: While the Journal News reports "the" tractor-trailer in question has been seized, the New York Times simply reports that "a" tractor and trailer have been seized and police are investigating the driver's claims. Another 20 people remain hospitalized near NYC

(NEWSER) - A tour bus overturned on I-95 in the Bronx this morning, catastrophically slicing off its roof on a road sign and killing 14 people, reports the Daily News . About 20 people remain hospitalized, with at least six in critical condition. The bus driver told police he lost control after a tractor-trailer swerved in front of him. Vehicle spun out after making a U-turn, witnesses say

(NEWSER) - Two preschoolers were killed and 11 other people were injured when a van jumped a curb and ran into a crowd in Manhattan’s Chinatown today, Newsday reports. The gray van went out of control after making a U-turn, witnesses said. The dead children were identified as a 4-year-old girl and a 3- or 4-year-old, the New York Times reported. One of the injured is hospitalized in serious but stable condition, police said. More»
