(NEWSER) - Make room in the playoffs for MVP front-runner Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. Tomas Fleischmann, Sergei Fedorov and Alexander Semin scored for the Capitals, who clinched the Southeast Division title with a 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers last night. (NEWSER) - The New York Islanders Rick DiPietro only had to stop 18 shots to earn his 100th NHL victory in a 2-1 win against the Rangers. Goals from Ruslan Fedotenko and Josef Vasicek were enough to give the Islanders the win; Michal Rozsival netted the Rangers lone goal. The Islanders are 8-1-2 in their last 11 games against the Blueshirts, reports the AP. More»

(NEWSER) - The New York Rangers' supposed high-powered offense has yet to show up consistently this young season, but if goalie Henrik Lundqvist continues to not allow any goals it won’t matter. (NEWSER) - Anton Volchenkov’s first goal of the season came with less than two minutes remaining in regulation and propelled the Senators to a 6-3 win over the Sabres. Seven goals were scored in a wild third period, five of them by Ottawa. Daniel Alfredsson had two of the Senators’ five in the final period; he also added an assist, reports the Associated Press.
