KC ends 12-game losing streak against Baltimore

(NEWSER) - Brian Bannister allowed two singles in eight innings and Kansas City beat Baltimore 4-0 Sunday to end its 12-game skid against the Orioles. Bannister struck out five and walked two to end a personal four-game losing streak. He did not allow a runner to reach second. Toronto has lost six in a row at Rogers Centre

(NEWSER) - Edgar Renteria hit a two-run home run, Kenny Rogers won for the first time since July and Detroit beat the Blue Jays 8-4 on Friday, handing Toronto its sixth consecutive home defeat. Pitcher for Dodgers, Astros, Mets suffered heart attack

(AP) - Former major league pitcher Jose Lima died today at age 37, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced. The Aguilas Cibaenas, Lima's winter ball team in the Dominican Republic, said he died of an apparent heart attack. In 13 major league seasons, Lima was 89-102 with a 5.26 ERA. He hadn't pitched in the major leagues since a four-game stop with the New York Mets in 2006. More»
