Chicago avenges series loss to Arizona in last year's playoffs

(NEWSER) - Pinch-hitter Daryle Ward delivered a two-run double in the eighth inning, and the Chicago Cubs rallied again to beat Arizona 6-4 Sunday after the anticipated showdown between Carlos Zambrano and Randy Johnson got wiped out. Miscue in 10th inning is Phillies' 15th of the season

(NEWSER) - Second baseman Chase Utley's throwing error allowed Ronny Cedeno to score the go-ahead run for the Cubs in the 10th inning to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 today. Jayson Werth and Eric Bruntlett hit solo homers for the Phillies, while Mark DeRosa had a solo shot for the Cubs. Lily strikes out 10 and drives in tying run

(NEWSER) - Ted Lilly kept his glove on his hand this time. Lilly gave up another homer to Chris Young, but instead of throwing a tantrum the left-hander led the Chicago Cubs over Arizona 3-1 today in the first meeting between the teams since the Diamondbacks' sweep in last year's playoffs. Young homered off Lilly in Game 2 last October during Arizona's 8-4 win, prompting Lilly to slam his glove down. More»
