Molina singles in go-ahead run in the 10th inning

(NEWSER) - Bengie Molina singled in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning to lift the San Francisco Giants to a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies last night. Chase Utley hit his major league-leading 13th homer and Geoff Jenkins had a solo shot for the Phillies. Chicago beats Pittsburgh for an eighth straight time

(NEWSER) - Jason Marquis pitched six solid innings for his first victory of the season, Derrek Lee and Daryle Ward homered and the Chicago Cubs beat Pittsburgh 13-1 today for their eighth straight win over the Pirates. The Cubs are 5-0 against Pittsburgh this season. Marquis (1-0) won for the first time since Sept. 16, allowing a run and six hits while striking out seven. He also had an RBI double. More»

Pirates rally to snap Atlanta's six-game win streak

(NEWSER) - Freddy Sanchez singled home Brian Bixler with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Pittsburgh Pirates a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves tonight. Sanchez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and is 9-for-17 in four games since being moved to the top of the Pirates' lineup. John Grabow (2-1) struck out one in a scoreless ninth to earn the win. More»

(NEWSER) - Pat Burrell had two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Philadelphia Phillies past the San Francisco Giants 6-5 today for manager Charlie Manuel's 500th career victory. Shane Victorino had two hits and Carlos Ruiz homered for the Phillies. Philadelphia won in the bottom of the ninth when Geoff Jenkins hit a sharp grounder toward second base, allowing Ryan Howard.
