Atlanta relievers combine to make lead hold up

Pirates rally to snap Atlanta's six-game win streak

(NEWSER) - Freddy Sanchez singled home Brian Bixler with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Pittsburgh Pirates a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves tonight. Sanchez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and is 9-for-17 in four games since being moved to the top of the Pirates' lineup. John Grabow (2-1) struck out one in a scoreless ninth to earn the win. More»

(NEWSER) - Chipper Jones drove in five runs and the Atlanta Braves scored seven runs in the second inning and beat the Cincinnati Reds 14-7 today to complete a three-game sweep. Jones hit his ninth homer - a three-run shot off Bronson Arroyo in the seven-run second inning. Kelly Johnson was 4-for-6 and Mark Kotsay was 3-for-4 with a homer. More»

(NEWSER) - Tim Hudson pitched his 11th career shutout and Brian McCann hit a two-run homer, helping the Atlanta Braves end a season-high four-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds last night. Beltran's two-run double sparks four-run third inning

(NEWSER) - Carlos Beltran hit a two-run double in the Mets' four-run third inning, and New York held on for a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves today. John Maine pitched five effective innings and David Wright snapped out of a slump with two hits for the Mets.
