(NEWSER) - Photographers clamored around Debbie Harry on Sunday as she left the Mercer Hotel, not because they are huge fans of her band Blondie, but because they believed the 66-year-old was actually Lindsay Lohan, age 25. A picture snapped of a platinum-haired Harry wearing aviator sunglasses does look startlingly similar to one taken of Lohan just two days prior, the New York Post notes; the actress had been snapped leaving the same hotel wearing similar sunglasses. (NEWSER) - The media ethics panel set up in Britain in the wake of the News of the World phone hacking scandal is getting an earful today from some high-profile witnesses:

• JK Rowling: The Harry Potter author complained that a journalist once slipped a note into her 5-year-old daughter's school bag requesting an interview, reports the BBC . "I can't put an invisibility cloaking device over myself or my house, nor would I want to. (But) it feels threatening to have people watching you." She also said reporters posed as tax officials to get personal information from her husband.

Lindsay Lohan's driver becomes subject of assault probe

(NEWSER) - A car in which Lindsay Lohan was a passenger struck and injured a paparazzo early this morning outside a Los Angeles nightclub, then quickly left the scene, police say. The BMW "sped away at a high rate of speed and hit a paparazzi photographer causing an injury to his hand, his wrist," an LAPD rep tells KTLA . The driver, an unidentified woman, is now involved in a criminal investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, TMZ reports. More»

No charges after Beverly Hills scuffle

(NEWSER) - David Beckham and his bodyguards went after the paparazzi yesterday—right in front of a Beverly Hills police station, E! Online reports. The soccer star was angry at being followed, and one of his bodyguards allegedly took matters into his own fists. Beckham and wife Victoria drove off before the cops arrived to break up the fight; no charges have yet been filed. More»
