Tensions over the country's nuclear ambitions have already pushed crude oil prices up 20% to a record winter high, energy experts tell the New York Times . That's translated to an average $3.73 per gallon at pumps nationwide, with prices well over $4 in California. (USER SUBMITTED) - The price at the pump edged up 3.9 cents in the last two weeks to an average of $2.91 per gallon, according to the latest Lundberg Survey, which sampled gas prices at 2,500 filling stations across the US. That's 28 cents higher than it was last December. At this rate, says the survey's publisher, "We may easily pay three dollars per gallon or more by Christmas." More»

The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.91, a drop of 57 cents per gallon in just the last two weeks. Gas is most expensive in San Francisco, at $3.49 a gallon, but is under $3 in most major cities. More»

(NEWSER) - Crude oil prices have fallen 38% from their July high of $147.27 a barrel, and the decline is causing nearly as much consternation around the world as its meteoric rise in the first half of the year, reports the Washington Post.
