It rescues 21 kids, arrests hundreds of adults in 16 cities

(NEWSER) - A 16-year-old girl charged with running a child prostitution ring calls the charges "ridiculous," the Arizona Republic reports. The girl and a pal were the madams of a ring that recruited girls as young as 14 to have sex for money, according to Phoenix police. "We have two girls who are, in essence, pimps," said a police spokesman. "They ran their own brothel." The teen admits being involved in prostitution but insists she was only a follower. More»

Multi-agency crackdown snares more than 600 adults involved in '21st century slavery'

(NEWSER) - A huge nationwide crackdown has smashed apart a dozen child prostitution rings and rescued 47 juveniles, the Washington Post reports. The joint effort from the FBI, Justice Department, and local law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of more than 600 adults in 29 cities, including 73 pimps.
