New book looks at the life of multi-sport athlete Babe Didrikson

(NEWSER) - Arguably the greatest American athlete named Babe would have turned 100 this weekend, and it's not the Babe you think. Babe Didrikson—the only woman in the top 10 of SI's list of the top 100 athletes of the 20th century—won two gold medals and one silver in track and field at the 1932 Olympics, was a basketball star, and won three US Women's Open championships in golf before dying of cancer at 45. 19-year-old Korean remains steady while other contenders falter

(NEWSER) - Two weeks away from her 20th birthday, Inbee Park became the youngest winner of the US Women's Open today by closing with a 2-under 71 as everyone else around her faded away at Interlachen. Park didn't make a bogey over the final 10 holes, pulling away with three clutch putts early on the back nine and building a four-shot lead going to the final hole. (NEWSER) - Paula Creamer blew another lead late in the final round and found herself in another playoff. Instead of getting nervous, she got mad at herself. After losing a two-shot lead on the final hole, Creamer held off a spirited bid from Juli Inkster by making an 8-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole yesterday to win the SemGroup Championship.
