(NEWSER) - The Army desertion rate for 2007 is up 43% over last year and a whopping 80% since the 2003 Iraq invasion, figures out today show. The rate is the highest since 1980, the AP reports. Last Missing US Soldier in Iraq Identified

Staff Sgt. Ahmed Kousay al-Taie was kidnapped at gunpoint

(NEWSER) - The US military has identified the remains of America's last service member missing in Iraq—an Army interpreter who was kidnapped at gunpoint in 2006, the AP reports. Staff Sgt. Ahmed Kousay al-Taie, a native of Iraq who lived in Michigan, had sneaked off base by motorcycle to visit his Iraqi wife. Today the Army said his remains had been positively identified at the military mortuary in Dover, Delaware. But officials released no other information about his death or the finding of his remains. (NEWSER) - Michelle Howard was granted a restraining order against estranged husband Terrence Howard yesterday, after claiming that the Oscar-nominated actor began abusing her within a week of their January 2010 marriage. Michelle Howard, who filed for divorce a year later, says Howard has hit her and threatened her repeatedly, causing constant fear and chronic health issues, the AP reports.
