(NEWSER) - John Boehner today took to ABC's This Week to offer his characteristically blunt assessment of JPMorgan, and promptly asserted that Dodd-Frank wouldn't have averted the bank's $3 billion blunder : " There's no law against stupidity . No law against stupid trades. As long as there's no risk of a taxpayer bailout—they should be held accountable by the market and their shareholders. And they are." Boehner also offered his take on a super PAC's scrapped plan to bash President Obama over Jeremiah Wright, calling it "nonsense (that) shouldn't happen. The election's gonna be about the economy. ... Ed Kennedy gets vindication, posthumously

Bush strategist says to ignore politics when picking a VP

(NEWSER) - From now until August, pundits will be speculating about Mitt Romney's VP choice, and poring over the political benefits of each candidate. Karl Rove thinks Romney should ignore all of that and choose, as George W. Bush did, the "best partner in the White House and a person the country would have confidence in if something terrible happened to him." In his Wall Street Journal column, Rove reveals that he at first strenuously objected to Bush picking Dick Cheney as his VP, and that Bush even had Rove detail all his objections—as Cheney sat, "mute and expressionless, next to the governor." (NEWSER) - The 2012 Pulitzer Prizes are out, and for the first time in 35 years a Pulitzer for fiction is not among them, reports the AP , which itself snagged an award for its series on NYPD spying. Without further ado, the list of winners:
