Hague tribunal will open in his absence
(NEWSER) - Radovan Karadzic, the Bosnian Serb leader arrested last year after more than a decade in hiding, will boycott his trial for genocide and other crimes next week. The trial at the international court in The Hague will begin Monday in Karadzic's absence, an official says. Prosecutors are expecting they'll need a year to lay out all the evidence against Karadzic, whose forces massacred more than 7,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica and killed non-Serbs across Yugoslavia.
