(AP) - The net widened today in the case of a Mississippi man suspected of killing a Tennessee woman and her teenage daughter and fleeing with her two younger girls as authorities charged his wife and mother in connection with the abduction. As an intense manhunt for Adam Mayes and the two young girls continued, his wife, Teresa Mayes, and mother, Mary Mayes, were arraigned. Cops race clock to save daughters from kidnapper

(NEWSER) - The bodies of a Tennessee mom and her teenage daughter have been discovered, and police are in a race against time to save two younger sisters snatched by the suspected killer. Jo Ann Bain, 31, and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne, were discovered dead behind the Mississippi home of murder suspect Adam Mayes, said local police, who did not reveal how they were killed. Bain's two younger daughters, 12-year-old Alexandria and Kyliyah, 8, are still missing. "Time is clearly of the essence," a former FBI agent told ABC News . "If we have the mother who is dead and one of her daughters, law enforcement has every reason to believe that the other two daughters are definitely in jeopardy." More»

Tornado devastates Tuscaloosa

(NEWSER) - A wave of tornado-spawning storms ripped through six states yesterday, killing at least 269 people and flattening buildings. Some 180 people died in Alabama alone, many of those in college-town Tuscaloosa, where a mile-wide tornado tore through the city's downtown, the AP reports. There were 33 casualties in Mississippi, 33 in Tennessee, 14 in Georgia, eight in Virginia, and one in Kentucky. More»
