(NEWSER) - The FBI has a new suspect in the 33-year-old disappearance of Etan Patz: a wood shop owner who once used the SoHo basement where cops are now digging for Patz's body, the New York Post reports. Othniel Miller, a 75-year-old living in Brooklyn, fell under suspicion after his ex-wife recently claimed he had raped his young niece a few years before Patz vanished in 1979. Federal officers used the claim to get a search warrant and start digging up the basement at 127 Prince St. More»

Axl Rose to Cleveland: Sorry, You Rock

He says decision to snub Hall of Fame has received a lot of support

(NEWSER) - Axl Rose wants the people of Cleveland to know his decision to shun Guns N' Roses' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction over the weekend was nothing personal. "I would like to apologize to Cleveland, Ohio, for not apologizing to them beforehand for not attending [the ceremony] in their city," he writes in an open letter on the band's website , saying he has received an "overwhelmingly positive response" to his decision. City's life expectancy now 2 years above national average

(NEWSER) - A Big Apple a day might help keep the Grim Reaper away: Newborn New Yorkers can now expect to live a lot longer than the average American, Mayor Michael Bloomberg says. At 80.6, the city's life expectancy—which was long well below the national average—is up almost three years from 2000 rates and is more than two years above the national rate of 78.2 years. When compared to states, New York City's life expectancy is now lower than only those of Hawaii and Minnesota. More»

It profiles what it says is the most expensive rental in New York City—a SoHo power-station-turned-loft converted by Hollywood director Marcus Nispel. Among other things, it boasts an indoor pool off the front-door entrance, a big terrace, 13-foot windows, and bragging rights: Beyonce filmed her 2008 video for Halo inside.
