(NEWSER) - Staring down both his 85th birthday and the seventh anniversary of his papacy, Pope Benedict today asked the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square for both prayers and strength, reports the AP . "Next Thursday, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of my election to the See of Peter, I ask for your prayers, so that the Lord gives me the strength to fulfill the mission he entrusted to me." Benedict's birthday is tomorrow; the pontiff will celebrate with older brother Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, who has flown in from Germany. More»

Genevieve Sabourin arrested at actor's home

(NEWSER) - Alec Baldwin met Canadian actress Genevieve Sabourin back in 2002 while filming The Adventures of Pluto Nash, on which she was working as a publicist, and apparently he made such an impression on her that she's been stalking him ever since. Sabourin, 40, was arrested yesterday at Baldwin's New York home, the Daily News reports; she had reportedly also followed him to various places around the city and shown up at his home in the Hamptons in the past. Baldwin joins these other stalked celebs:

• Madonna: The Material Girl has had more than her fair share of stalkers. One, Robert Dewey Hoskins, escaped from the mental health facility where he was being held in February. Fortunately, cops found him a week later.
• Dr. Drew: The celebrity physician had a particularly creepy stalker, who was arrested after threatening to kill the doctor's kids and force his wife to eat them.
• David Letterman: His stalker referred to herself as "Mrs. David Letterman," and was arrested after breaking into his home a minimum of seven times. (Oddly, another woman accused Letterman of stalking her … via code.)

Material Girl likes extremely pricey facials

(NEWSER) - If you are among those who think—as the Telegraph apparently does—that Madonna doesn't look a day over 30, then you may be interested to know what her secret is. The answer: very, very expensive facials. It seems the Material Girl prefers Intraceuticals, facials that must be administered with a special machine that costs nearly $14,400. For reasons unknown, Madonna has reportedly purchased six of those machines, meaning she's spent nearly $86,400 to keep her 53-year-old face looking youthful. More»

Other than 'MDNA' release, singer hasn't had greatest week

(NEWSER) - The latest to slam Madonna: electronic musician Paul van Dyk, who calls her "so stupid" in Billboard . "She made the biggest mistake of her career" when she apparently referenced drugs "in front of a crowd of 18-year-olds" at the Ultra Music Festival on Saturday, he says. Madonna, introducing festival headliner AVICII, asked, "How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?" Molly is a street name for MDMA, the active substance in ecstasy. Madonna was called out for the question by Deadmau5 earlier in the week, and she tweeted an explanation (complete with a picture of her in mouse ears ) in response, but apparently van Dyk was not convinced: She says she was referring to "Have You Seen Molly," a song by her friend that is totally not about drugs.
